Custom Embroidery for Clothing, Uniforms & Workwear
Embroidery is one of the most popular ways to add a company logo, club emblem or custom design to uniforms and clothing. The stitched finish works particularly well across structured garments and products including polo shirts, business shirts, workwear, jackets, scrubs, chef uniforms, caps and bags.
The products in this collection have embroidery available as a branding option, making it easier to start with garments that are suitable for custom embroidered branding.
We produce embroidery in-house at our Moorabbin, Melbourne facility, with custom embroidered clothing and uniforms supplied to businesses, organisations, clubs and teams throughout Australia.
Choosing Clothing for Custom Embroidery
The best garment for embroidery depends on more than how it looks.
Fabric weight, stretch, texture and garment construction can all affect the finished result. Stable and structured fabrics generally provide an excellent base for embroidery, while very lightweight or highly stretchy garments may be better suited to a printing method.
That's why we don't recommend embroidery simply because a needle can technically go through the fabric.
We've identified the products in this collection as having embroidery available, so you can choose the garment first and then organise your logo branding.
Embroidered Polo Shirts
Polo shirts and embroidery are a classic uniform combination.
Many polo fabrics provide a stable surface for stitching, while a chest logo creates clear branding without dominating the garment. They're popular across office teams, trades, hospitality, healthcare, clubs and other workplaces.
Our polo range includes men's, women's, unisex and kids' styles across cotton, performance and blended fabrics.

Embroidered Workwear
For trades, warehouses, construction and other working environments, embroidery provides a practical way to add company branding to suitable work shirts, polos, jackets, vests and other workwear.
Because workwear is often worn repeatedly, choosing the garment itself is just as important as choosing the decoration method.
You can build a coordinated uniform using different garments while keeping the same embroidered company logo across the range.
Embroidered Business Shirts & Office Uniforms
Embroidery can create subtle, professional branding on business shirts and office uniforms.
A small company logo positioned on the chest is a common choice, allowing businesses to create a recognisable team uniform without making the branding the dominant feature of the garment.
For lighter corporate garments, we'll consider the fabric and logo before recommending the appropriate branding size and method.

Embroidered Jackets, Hoodies & Outerwear
Jackets, hoodies, jumpers and vests can provide excellent surfaces for embroidery, particularly where the fabric has enough structure to support the design.
They're also useful for extending an existing uniform into cooler weather. The same company logo used on a polo or shirt can often be carried across to suitable outerwear to maintain consistent branding throughout the year.
Different fabrics behave differently under embroidery, so the ideal decoration can vary between fleece, softshell, sweatshirt fabric and other outerwear.
Embroidered Scrubs & Healthcare Uniforms
Embroidery is particularly popular on scrubs and healthcare uniforms, where it can be used for both company branding and individual staff identification.
A clinic or healthcare organisation might embroider its logo on one side of a scrub top and add an employee's name, role or department separately.
For individual identification, our Personal Name Embroidery options can be added to suitable garments alongside your logo.
Embroidered Chef & Hospitality Uniforms
Embroidery works particularly well with many chef jackets and hospitality uniforms and is generally our preferred branding method for chef jackets.
Company logos, venue branding and personal names can all be used to create coordinated uniforms for restaurants, cafés, catering businesses and hospitality teams.
Embroidered Caps & Headwear
Caps are another popular choice for custom embroidery, but they're quite different from embroidering a flat garment.
Panels, seams, curves and the structure of the cap all influence the available embroidery area and how the finished design will look.
For bold designs requiring more dimension, selected structured caps may also be suitable for 3D embroidery, which uses foam beneath the stitching to create a raised effect.
Logo Embroidery
Once you've chosen your garments, your company logo or custom artwork needs to be prepared for embroidery.
New designs are generally digitised into a specialised embroidery file containing instructions for the embroidery machine, including stitch types, direction, density and thread changes.
The complexity, size and stitch count of a logo can affect both its appearance and the cost of producing it.
Need Personal Names as Well?
Logos aren't the only thing we embroider.
Names, job titles, departments and other short text can be added to suitable clothing using our Personal Name Embroidery services.
This is a particularly popular option for healthcare, hospitality, corporate uniforms, trades, clubs and teams and can be used alongside your company logo.
Not Sure Whether Embroidery is Right for Your Logo?
Embroidery isn't automatically the best decoration method for every garment or every design.
Large artwork, photographic images, gradients, extremely fine details and some lightweight fabrics may be better suited to one of our print methods.
Our Custom Embroidery Guide explains embroidery digitising, stitch counts, thread colours, logo sizing, garment suitability, 3D embroidery, artwork limitations and how embroidery compares with printing.
You can also explore DTG, DTF, Supacolour, Digital Transfers and our other decoration options in our complete Branding Methods guide.
Custom Embroidery FAQs
Can I add my logo to the products in this collection?
Yes. Products in this collection have embroidery available as a branding option. Choose your garments and then add the appropriate embroidery service for your logo or design.
Do you provide custom embroidery in Melbourne?
Yes. House of Uniforms produces custom embroidery at our Moorabbin, Melbourne facility and delivers embroidered clothing and uniforms to customers throughout Australia.
What types of clothing can be embroidered?
Embroidery is available across most polo shirts, business shirts, workwear garments, jackets, hoodies, scrubs, chef uniforms and other clothing. Generally caps, bags and accessories can also be embroidered.
Can you embroider my company logo?
Yes. Company and organisation logos are among the most common designs we embroider. New artwork generally needs to be digitised into an embroidery file before production.
Can I add employee names as well as our logo?
Yes. Personal Name Embroidery can be added to suitable garments alongside company logo embroidery. Names can also be accompanied by short information such as a role or department.
Can caps be embroidered?
Yes. Many caps are suitable for embroidery. Because caps have curved and structured surfaces, their embroidery requirements differ from flat garments. Selected styles can also be suitable for 3D embroidery.
Is embroidery suitable for lightweight clothing?
It depends on the garment and design. Embroidery adds thread and therefore weight to the fabric, so some lightweight or highly stretchy garments may be better suited to a print method.
Is embroidery better than printing?
Neither method is universally better. Embroidery works particularly well across many uniforms, polos, jackets, workwear garments and caps, while printing can be better for large artwork, photographic detail and some lightweight fabrics.
How much does custom embroidery cost?
The cost depends on factors including logo size, stitch count, quantity, artwork setup and the product being embroidered. Visit our Logo Embroidery service page for current ordering and pricing information.
Do you offer embroidery Australia wide?
Yes. Our embroidery production is based in Moorabbin, Melbourne and we supply custom embroidered clothing and uniforms to customers throughout Australia.
Do I get to see my embroidery before you put it on my order?
All new embroidery artwork gets setup and physically sampled on a swatch of fabric for your first order. We email you a photo of the sample for approval but we can also post it to you if you prefer to see it in person. Once approved, it is then stored in our machines for future use.
